About
Based in Durango, Shanta Village Partners is an international non-profit pioneering a rational, community-led approach to eliminating extreme poverty in remote regions of Myanmar and Zambia. Diverging from traditional aid models that often create dependency, Shanta utilizes a six-year Village Partnership Model that equips subsistence farmers with the leadership, financial, and technical skills needed to self-determine their own futures. By facilitating the creation of Community Banks and a diverse menu of projects—ranging from clean water and healthcare to women’s empowerment and sustainable agriculture—Shanta fosters "independency" and resilience, ensuring local communities can thrive long after the formal partnership ends. As a proud member of the Durango community, Shanta collaborates with local partners like the High Noon Rotary Club and Fort Lewis College’s Village Aid Project to bring sustainable infrastructure solutions to the world’s most vulnerable populations.
