The La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave., is currently serving as the operations center for relief efforts. Those looking to volunteer can go to the fairgrounds to assist.
Sandbag operations:
- Volunteers are asked to bring a shovel.
- Individuals with trucks can help transport sandbags to areas where they are needed.
- Residents who have unused or empty sandbags are asked to take them to the fairgrounds. Supplies are currently depleted, and returned sandbags can help support ongoing response efforts.
American Red Cross:
- A limited number of volunteers are needed to assist with tasks such as loading water into vehicles, directing traffic, and providing general support at distribution sites.
- Water is available for residents who need it, along with a limited supply of house-cleaning kits. Cleaning supplies for flood-affected residents may be dropped off at the fairgrounds.
